Agile Rules / XP Embedded is a software consultancy company based in
Lexington, MA.
Our mission: We will enter into collaborative relationships in which our
customers solve their own problems by embracing Agile principles; Agile
software development skills are transferred to the client, and dependence
on us is gradually diminished to the point of disengagement.
Who We Are
Nancy Van Schooenderwoert
Nancy Van Schooenderwoert brings a systems perspective to
software engineering for real-time and embedded systems. She has
extensive
experience in building large-scale, real-time systems for flight
simulation
and ship sonars, as well as software development for safety-critical
applications such as factory machine control and medical devices. Nancy
has held positions in electrical, systems, and software engineering, as
well as in test design.
Having seen the problems fostered by a "hero" approach to software
development, Nancy became convinced that a team approach is the best
way to
build reliable systems efficiently. She became an XP practitioner in
2000,
and a founder of Agile Rules / XP Embedded in 2003.
Other interests include recreational mathematics, especially
nonperiodic tilings and the invention of games. She will soon be
publishing a game based on penrose tilings. Nancy holds a Bachelor of
Science in Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. Nancy is a member
of the IEEE 1648 Working Group for Establishing and Managing Software
Development Efforts Using Agile Methods. She also edits the "Ask the
Experts" column for the Agile Times.

Ronald Morsicato
Ron Morsicato has been looking for a better way to do things his entire
career. A developer since the 70's, he worked in the health care
delivery arena, writing simulations of delivery systems and tying them
to the period's information systems. During the 80's and 90's he
focused
on military systems, where he developed simulations supporting the
conceptual and proof-of-principle phases of the product life cycle.
From
there he moved to engineering development, serving as the software
domain expert on systems engineering teams. In this role he was deeply
involved with integrating software considerations into what had
previously been a hardware-based military safety program. For the last
four years, he has returned to the non-military sphere lending his
wealth of experience to both the scientific instrumentation and chip
manufacturing
spaces. He is a firm believer that agile methods are indeed leading to
that better way.
Ron holds an MS in Operations Research from SUNY Buffalo. His current
interest is in the integration if both internal and external customer
needs with a comprehensive testing program for embedded products. Ron
is a member of the IEEE 1648 Working Group for Establishing and
Managing Software Development Efforts Using Agile Methods.

A solid understanding of many development environments, problem spaces,
and business concerns
makes for a faster start on projects and a better analysis of what
tools and practices are most appropriate for each engagement. With a
heavy emphasis on process automation and the proper application of the
right tools, he strives for more reliable and efficient operation.
With experience in both the business side and the technical side,
David is able to bridge the communication gaps between those two worlds.
David earned a BBA at Hofstra
University in two majors: Business Administration, and Business
Computer Information Systems.
He is Assistant Director and presenter at the
Boston
Linux and UNIX Group, and an author of GPL software.
